Tea Time!

So today was the day of being on cricket tea duty and thankfully it was a beautiful day.

I thought I'd briefly tell you about what I include in my tea (just in case you are ever called upon to make one)!

Savouries

I made the decision to do cobs (or rolls) instead of sandwiches, as I thought in the heat, they would stay fresher for longer.

They had ham, grated cheese and egg mayonnaise. I also added some lettuce, cucumber, tomato and cress to the platters so the boys could add these if they wished.

Next we had mini sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, pork pie and 3 flavours of crisps.

Sweet

Then it comes to my favourite part...CAKES!!

As you may have already read this week, I've been baking a number of tasty delights, and here they are.

Mary Berry's Devonshire Scones served with strawberry jam and whipped double cream.

Chocolate Brownies, decorated with a few deliciously sweet strawberries.

Lorraine Pascales Flapjack.

Mary Berry's Lemon Drizzle Traybake (you can find the recipe here http://www.maryberry.co.uk/recipes/baking/lemon-drizzle-traybake)

And at Scarlett's request some Chocolate Crispie Cakes, the recipe I used is here http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/eastereggnests_93841.

I also think, after all of that sweet, sticky goodness it's nice to have something fresh and light, so I also served some grapes and melon.

Of course all of this has to be washed down with lashings of hot tea and glasses of fruity squash.

So there we have it, my cricket tea. Time to sit down and pop my feet up!

Until next time.

Sarah xx
